Children and Families

Godalming Unitarians is a community of all ages. On two Sundays per month there are activities offered specifically for children.

Children's Programme

children's activities

The Children's Programme meets twice per month, on the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 11am. Generally the children join the adults for a story in the Chapel, and then gather for their own activities in the Hall. The activities are based around Unitarian principles but are meant to be FUN with stories, crafts, role-play and games. We believe in a lifelong learning approach, facilitating thinking and creative skills that build confidence, friendships and ability.

children's activities

Activities for children of all ages are run by enthusiastic and CRB checked leaders who really care about the children in the programme. Parents of younger children are welcome to join in the activities.

After the chapel service, the congregation meets in the hall to see what the children have been doing and for coffee and refreshments.

UNITARIAN CHALICE AWARDS

children's activities

Right now we are following the Unitarian Chalice Award programme and we present certificates or awards at the end of each topic. The Unitarian Chalice Awards highlight the belief in ethical behaviour, having values, feeling positive about the world, and the power of the individual to make social change for the better.

Family services

Every two months on the 4th Sunday there is a Family service for adults and children to worship together with stories, singing and something for everyone. After this service there is normally a shared "pot luck" lunch. All are welcome.

Sponsored Child
youth group

The children at Godalming Unitarians are involved with all the community's social action projects. We also sponsor a Tanzanian girl through Plan International, raising the money through periodic bake sales, our stall at Godalming Spring Fair and church collections. We follow her progress and find out about life in Tanzania through her letters.

Other activities

Children from the age of 7 upwards have the opportunity to take part in wider Unitarian Children and Youth events such as Unikids (based in the South East), Uniteenz (for teens) and Junior, Inter and Senior Weekends at The Nightingale Centre, Great Hucklow in Derbyshire.
