Fundraising

Each year the congregation nominates several charities to support through fundraising and special services. In 2012 we raised money for the following:

Fairtrade

Fairtrade
We are a Fairtrade church which we means have committed to:
  • Use Fairtrade tea and coffee for all meetings for which we have responsibility
  • Move forward on using other Fairtrade products
  • Promote Fairtrade during Fairtrade fortnight and through other activities where possible.

Special services and activities

We seek to draw attention to social justice issues in our worship and find fun ways of involving our young people:-

  • Filling shoe-boxes with gifts to be sent to Eastern Europe, via the Rotary club scheme.
  • Supporting Godalming Food bank at our Harvest service.
  • Making Christmas gift boxes for families in a local refuge.
  • Making cards and writing messages of support to those facing human rights abuses via Amnesty International's annual 'Write for Rights' campaign.
  • Fairtrade - Each year we hold special Family services to mark Fairtrade Fortnight. In February 2011 we decorated cotton flags as part of the Fair Trade Foundation's attempt to beat a world record for the longest and fairest ever bunting - after which we enjoyed dishes made with Fairtrade ingredients
  • Filling shoe-boxes
